Phone - £400 for a sealed one off eBay
Sim - 250mins, unlimited texts and internet (I'd be surprised if you get unlimited net on contract) = £10pm
= £640 over 2 years.

Still over £200 cheaper if you get one from Apple.
Plus you're not tied in.

Who's that sim only deal with, I'm tempted to do that, fed up paying £35 a month to be tied into a phone that's old within months.

Sounds like GiffGaff (O2 network)....
Edit - Only downsides with them is that they don't support BBs (they're working on getting a BIS service atm) and thethering is a no no. Oh and they apparently send out 'calm it down' emails when your usage reaches 20GB (in a single month)

I almost think it will be a updated 4s but they will unveil a new iPod touch that will be the basis for the next phone 5 next year such as wider screen thinner chassis etc hence the Chinese plastic cases we have been seeing lately

But what is the difference on these SIM only deals, because simplicity on o2 (i am not on SIM Only) has two types of simplicity, one for normal phones and a more expensive one for iphones?

Is that with o2? Got to be Orange or Vodafone round here and I can't see a sim only deal as cheap as that with them Plus whats the chances of getting the next iPhone for £400 on eBay
So basically doesn't sound like it will work for me

Main difference is Simplicity is a rolling contract where as GiffGaff is a top-up like tariff - so every month (although you can queue 3, I think, 'goodybags') you top-up (via the GiffGaff website; they have a mobile version as well) your sim with either cash or a monthly 'Goodybag' (like a bolt-on). And the reason it's cheap is because they don't offer phone support rather it's all internet based (forums/emails/support forms etc).
It's obviously not for everyone, but it's saved me a fair amount (£3/400 a year) and the only hassle is having to spend a minutes tapping a few buttons on a website to 'top-up'.
Matt - Yes, GiffGaff uses the O2 network (was created by a few guys that originally worked at O2 and O2 did up to recently have a big stake the company).

I thought we were comparing the overall cost of contract iphone 4's to non-contract.
Regardless iPhone 5 will be the same price as iPhone 4 when it's released next month, just get it from Apple.
As for o2, can't help you with that one

We were to give me an idea of what it'd be like for iPhone 4S/5 but seen as though o2 is no good for me its still cheaper for me to go on a normal contract which is what I thought originally.
