John's issue is putting me off getting one of these. Big selling point was that the battery would be much better than my desire

Also can't decide whether to upgrade now with voda or move to 3 in a couple of months for their unlimited data plans

Battery issue doesn't happen on them all but it is now an accepted issue, definitely not better than my desire.

My battery in my 4s has been really good. Tonnes better than my 3g with a morphie juice pack. It will easily last a working day and internet browsing/gaming during the evening

Got mine. I think the 3GS feels better to hold than the square edges of the 4S Probably just not used to it yet.
