Since it came off charge at 8:30 I've sent a few texts, been on facebook and twitter a bit then had my iPod on all afternoon and the battery is only down to 75%.

Seems really strange how yours uses so much more battery when we are running the same version of iOS?!

ive def noticed that my 4 can now no longer last from wake-up to bedtime without a quick top-up charge since iOS5 which im very frustrated about. no problesm whatsoever charging overnight every night but im getting fed up of havign to charge ot for 10-20 mins in the early evening or alternatively if im out and about it dieing on me before i get home
i dont use mine that much, check facebook and twitter for a bit every few hours, generally deal with e-mails via Outlook rather than the phone etc.
John - what steps did you take to optimise as much as poss?

Turned sending diagnostic reports, bluetooth, turned off any of the location services I don't actually need, I've played about with push and fetch email, removing mail accounts, loads of bits and pieces but none of it has made a difference anyway.

It has to be something in the settings as mines been running iOS5 now since launch with springboard, lockscreen and notification centre widgets running 24/7, all notifications on and mail/twitter set to push and haven't noticed any difference in battery.
There must be a problem as Apple are addressing it but its clearly only certian people that are affected.

What do you mean Robbo, they are lockable, not sure if it will be though, voda and o2 don't normally lock contract phones.
iOS 5.0.1 out, can't upgrade because I want to be able to jailbreak

Loads of point in jailbreaking, millions of stuff you can't do.

Just done the upgrade anyway, there's a jailbreak out for 5.0.1 anyway so surely they'll be able to JB it on the 4S.
See how battery performs now.

One of the jailbreak developers said that 5.0.1 users can run an untethered jailbreak but it will be via a more complicated bug as the 'simpler' bug is patched in 5.0.1.

It's made absolutely no difference to my battery life.
I'll maybe just try and get it swapped if I get a chance to go to the shop.
