Are you sure about the insurance? I believe the sport is a higher group simply because its a sport.

Yeh im almost sure its right, they said aslong as it is a 1.4 they wernt bothered about whether it was a 16v sport or a standard 1.4.I mentioned about Saxo's and they said that the 1.4 Furio was fine even though its group 7 where the Westcoast 1.4 is group 6...I think its the Saxo VTR that goes up into group 14.So im pretty sure the 1.4 16v sport is ok, seeing as you mentioned it though i better double check tomorro, thanx.

if he's got the insurance sorted then it's ok. no point arguing with him.

i couldn't afford to insure a 1.4 16v at 17 either, but some ppl can

i've got a 1.4 16v - tough little engine, good car to go for

the sport has a fair few elctric bits on it which make it better value than the lowly merits and LS's.

2500 is gonna buy you an early, probably n/p reg sport with average to high miles though.

Hey thanx. Yeh I managed to get a really decent deal on the insurance for it too at 370 a year even for the sport or any 1.4 like the Saxo Furio. Ive been looking around and seen a 16V sport N reg '96 like you said for 2300 with K&N induction airfilter and stainless steel back box, it came with a Pioneer sound system too but my dads a mechanic and ad a look over it at his place and looked like the left track rod end had bin bend from running the kurb, nowt that cant be sorted like but theres a small crack in the drivers door pillar which apparently is quite common with the 3-doors..Rung up Vauxhall bout it and they didnt wanna no, prob thought i was claiming off them but found out off a dealer it wud cost bout 80quid to get it sorted. See how it goes and keep lookin for anythin along the way.

i wouldn't buy it if it had cracked b-pillars, even after they've been fixed they'll crack again.

and it's an MOT failier.

Yeh thats what i was told too, Its still got 6months MOT on it but was told it would fail the next one unless it got sorted. Il prob look for something around P reg if i can. I know people from the car autions too so might give it a look there for one before the dealers smack an extra 1500 on for retail.

Yeh its on a sliding scale, It was 95quid a year on provisional but picked that up for 80 in April, and 370quid a year once passed the test on fully comp. My mate has got insured for 790quid on a 1.1 Nova so i think ive got a pretty good deal
