ive got an old fairly standard sony CD player, while it does exactly what i want it to do, i like the way it looks and the jog dial is awesome, im thinking about in the near future swapping it out for an mp3 CD/RW playing pioneer.
Now, my question is, is the load of wiring that connects to the back of the unit radio specific, or can i just unplug the sony and plug it straight into the back of the pioneer? As i have soldered my speaker wires to the wires on the loom due to cacky connections.

No the wiring loom for your sony unit is specific to that headunit.
Most headunits have their own specific connector to go to the unit which comes from a standard ISO block.
So unfortunatly its a on that one.
