Unfortunatly i dont think you would have any luck getting a nice looking switch that can handle 40a.
Best thing to do is to get a 40a relay then use whatever switch you want.
I have one of these in blue for my 120a relay:

what you need a wiring diagram for? Pretty simple. Three spade connectors, one is the earth, one is supply and one is output.
To find out which one is which, get a live and earth from your battery, push the switch in, and connect the earth to one connector, then the live to another until the switch lights up.

Then whatever connecter is left is the output for the switched supply.
In my experience from what i can remember when doing the switch it went:
Top connector : Supply live
Middle: Switched output live
Bottom: Earth
Give it a try

Will either have 3 or 4 spade connectors on it, will also have a diagram to show you how to wire it up.
For 3 spade connectors it would be
1 for earth
1 for live supply (comes from the output of the switch)
1 for live supply output
Or on the 4 spade connector:
1 for earth
1 for live supply (from switch)
2 for live supply output.

Did u try actually pressing the switch?
Try putting a multimeter and check continuity on the switch
