The Golf 1.8 T is no rocket ship. The reason its quicker is mines lighter and has stupidly low gearing, but the extra power and torque of the Golf propels the car ahead later on. Anyway the 150 golf has a slowish time of 25 secs to 100 mph, for example a VTS is something like 22. I times mine to 23.5 secs to 100 mph which isnt bad for a 1.2, but then the 8v 106 Rallye 1.3 original version was making 100 bhp with 8v valves so 1.2 16v should be making better power with some tweaking.

Cheeky.
I ain't some kid with his mams Corsa, I only tuned it cos it was too slow after a Zetec S, before that anything from a rusty tuned Silvia to a Maxima, a Cossie and a Vauxhall Magnum 2300 a long long time ago.

The Dbilas manifold alone gives a documented 22 bhp, just see the website, its not spurious claims, that alone gives a net of 97 bhp. Plus the other mods, and I'm being conservative.

I just invested in a a few vintage strats is I wanted to waste money on a mega high performance car I would instead.

Don't scoff at what you don't know about.

my sri needs to be worked to go, but when it does my god does it shift after 3k! i used to drive a zetec s and they werent that quick to 60 but after that they were very close to a vts. i should get min rred to see what it's pushing out now but i have been told it was rred at 103bhp last year before the head was polished and skimmed and before the 17s came. i think it would need to be a well tuned 1.2 like you say to keep up with a golf, but even the n/a 2.0 golfs are slow so i reckons with the £££s behind it it would be possible.

I chipped my first Zetec S at Ron Perry A19 test and tune when I lived up north. It rattled unless you used Super or Optimax thereafter. It was quicker though.

I'd say my tweaked Corsa 1.2 can't produce the Torque a chipped ZS could though say after 70 or 80 mph. Overcoming wind and rolling resistance.

i'm witrh nfu m8, (national farmers union) and b4 u ask, i am not a farmer or owt.
i am allowed to do up my car (kit, alloys, ice etc) and my insurance cost wont change as long as the value doesnt exceed 30 grand.
i am payin about 900-1000 tho which is a bit more than wot my m8s pay but i think it'll b worth it in the long run
the amount is obv gonna change wen i have the 2.0 but they sed not considerbaly (possibly an extra 500 quid)

If I added up the Mod's on my Car i'd be running about 210bhp

10bhp for exhaust, 7bhp for filter, 5bhp for decat...

It doesnt work like that thou in the real world - bet im only about 3bhp up from standard..

The power figures the people that make performance products claim, are a load of arse As for keeping up with a Gti T, um.. ur dreaming...
