which conversion would you go for.
taking in to account costs and performance and anything else you can think of.

v6, look good and stop amazingly well, better than 2.0ltr ones!

i voted 2l for 2 reasons:

1. they are spongy enough, i hate to think what v6 ones are like

2. they stop quick enough, anymore braking power without abs and they would just lock up at all speeds.

what do u mean about pedal feel? i heard v6 tend to feel spongey. but surely they ll stop better?

at the end of the day, they stick 2l brakes on 156 bhp astras, and they stop them bloody quick. the v6 brakes arent really designed to be used without abs.

i have the v6, they stop well, and with the braided hoses have a better feel than the standard brakes, also iv not got abs, and as yet i havent loacked up and iv done some pretty agressive breaking on motorways in rain etc!

v6 all the way soo much better than 16v calipers esp with rear disks

2.0L. V6 caliper pistons are too big for any decent pedal feel with the corsa

V6 cos they last longer, cant get them to fade. 2.0l ones have just as good pedal but fade when given a hard time!!

had 2.0 set up= shit

I locked my V6 brakes up for the first time last week - easier to do than standard brakes but that was expected. No spongyness t report - feel the same as the standard brakes- thats with braided hoses too.

2.0 brakes with Greenstuffs and matching ebc discs stopped my mates old 1.6 sport on a penny. Fantastic setup, best brakes he's used also.

My V6, pedals ok ish now with rear discs, and they stop when i need them too. They do work well, and look great, but the 2.0 brakes with aftermarket pads n discs worked much better. My discs are plain all round though currently.

They are poo when cold, i've not tried other pads, but on plain discs, its a vast improvement on teh standard vauxhall ones. Plus no dust

What sort of price is the V6 conversion compared to the 2.0 then? My standard disks look tiny with 17s on, plus im saving for engine conversion and need to upgrade things before.

4 Stud plain discs with V6 calipers are around £200.

Standard 2.0 setup can be got for about £40 at a scrappy, + new discs and pads which can work out more expensive.

Gambit, they wear through discs quicker??? Ahh well, thats ok, give me an excusse to bin the plain discs for groved ones
