i would have thought ciggy would be easier as its already fused and right near the footwells. Is it easy to wire into the fuse box?

I have mine hardwired to the back of the ciggy, so yes its already fused and my switches are also close at hand.

If you remove the ashtray, you'll see 3 plugs in the back of the ciggie lighter- 1 brown cable, (earth) and 2 black (12V DC), one black cable powers lighter, one illuminates it. Run power and earth from the plugs, easy. Remove the centre console for plenty of work room, I run the wire inside it to an illuminated rocker switch. Nice. Did it Monday, spent 4 hours on it in all, most were spent choosing a power souce. This choice saves a lot of bother, and is protected by the 20amp blade fuse which protects the ciggie lighter/ speedo.
Have Fun.

If your not too sure with the electrics, I'd suggest the fuse box ain't the best place to start playin'...
