you can have any size mate, but max sure the depth of speaker (from front to back of magnet) is around 2", otherwise it will get in the way of the window and when you wind it down it will hit the magnet. Only way to solve this is to make some spacers outta mdf to put on top of your autolead adaptors, but then you wont get them under the standard door grills. So you will have to cut the grill....etc etc it goes on  the again, it depends how much you like a set of speakers
