There is a whistling/squelling/rattleing noise when i start my car 4 about 10mins util it warms up!
Been told my water pump is on its way out and that fixing this i may aswel get my head gasket done at the same time???
How much would each of these cost on my 1.2 8v engine, and would it jus b worth buying a 1.4 16v for about £300 and putting that in instead
any help much appreciated!

Does it overheat? If the coolant pump's fecked then it will
The head doesn't need to come off to get the water pump out. So that's just so you pay more I suspect. It only needs the alternator belt and timing belt removed, iirc.
Of course putting a bigger engine in is going to give you better performance but its only needed if your engine is totally wasted.

no it dusnt overheat, jus the whining noise on cold start but i jus dnt want it 2 completely feck up wen i miles away sumwhere

WHistling or squeling noise, could be the alternator belt, about £6-10 Halfords. Rattling noise? Probably nothing to worry about if it goes after its warmed up.
