right got a cd of car clips, but its all scratched and fucked
ive copied the 'AVSEQ' files to pc (the ones i could) which i can play in windows media player, but these are data files, how do i make them mpeg or avi or wotever so i can burn a new cd?

theyre not data files , theyre mpeg files in vcd format.
just rename from "avseq01.dat" to "amazing car clip 7.mpg"
or whatever u wannem as
then they are just normal mpeg files

Change the extension letters (*.dat) to *.mpeg or *.mpg

dont chance it to *mpeg ocz u can only have 3 letters for file extensions

how i change the file type - if i rename to 'bigsupra.mpg' thats wot its called, but the file type is stil 'dat'

you must have " show extensions for known files types ticked " in folder options. then you can rename the extension properly. it will only change the extension and how the computer trys to open the file it wont actually change the file.

MPEG-1's are the standard for VCD, I use a program called Yasa VCD or somethingorother to make the files MPEG-1 standard.
I could never get any of these programs to burn properly. You can't just burn the files to a CD then whop it in the DVD player, it needs to be burned actually as a VCD. Being careful with words here, Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum has the option to make VCD's, you just tell it which files to use. You will need to 'acquire' this from 'somewhere'.
Then using that program it's just a case of choosing which files and in what order, and it burns it up as a nice VCD
