For some reason lately I've got an electric shock every time I touch my car after driving it - I've had the occasional ones before but now its like every time!
It's hurting - anyone know whats up?

yeh I reset my ecu only a couple of days ago (didn't notice the shocks really before) - maybe its the way I've reconnected it or something.

might be something to do with atmospheric conditions. used to get it round here quite often. not so much in the winter but more in the summer when its very dry and humid

it to do with the weather etc, hold the door metal before u put ur feet on the floor, will stop the shocks!

Think demo is right - it happens when its drier and more humid. But also more when your car is a little dirty and has a film of grime on it. This roughness compared to clean paint means theres a build up of static as the air rushes past your car when you're moving. I think!

ITs just a static electric shock, the only way round it is to ground you and the car.

anyone ever seen them things that drag under the car at the back, like rubber sticks? Well they are to stop static shocks by earthing the car, who'd fit one of those though

They dont work though apparently. U get a shock near enough every time you get out of a car thats had the air con on and it fcuking wrecks!

You'll probably find the rubber fan belts are charging the car up a bit like a van de graffe generator!

The same happens to me with my brand new Corsa C and I haven't touched or modified anything on it. It is something that got to do with clothes and weather. I thought (when I had my old Corsa B) that it was because of the alarm system, but not.
As funny as it seems, when I use jeans, snickers a a cotton t-shirt/shirt, this does not happen. It has never happened either in the night, just during the day (when is hot/humid or dusty). Weird huh?
