a turbo timer allows you to take the key out of the ignition and to lock the doors while the engine is still running to allow the turbo to cool down. after a set time the timer will cut off and turn the engine off.

only worth getting if you have a turbo, but i think there awsome gadgets even if you dont have one!

if you turn the engine straight of, it reduces the life of the turbo!

why not jus take it easy when you know you're gonna be parking up? (Not boost for 5 mins on way home or sommet?) Rather than spending money on a Timer

The turbo relies on a thin 'cushion' of oil for its lubrication while it is spinning (well lubrication of the axle thing that joins the 2 wheels). If you have been boosting then come to a stand still and shut the engine off, the turbo is left spinning with a supply of oil being pumped in. This causes increased wear and tear on the turbo and its components.

However, i'd rather save the money and so i take it easy for the last 5-7 mins of a drive.

or if u have a turbo oil temp and an engine oil temp gauge, then leave the car running until the turbo temp goes down to the same temp as the oil gauge reads

If the oil temp is too high it will vapourise in the turbo leaving very hot metal parts on each other.

Just take it easy a mile or so before home, then leave the engine running whilst you take the front off your stereo etc before you get out. That would be annoying if your late for work though, and they could be gadgety.
