Hello everyone,

I've got a corsa 1.0i 12v T reg and i want to do a 2.0 16v conversion the engine is from a cavalier gsi also where is the best and cheapest place to buy the 2.0 16v conversion kit from also what kind of a job is it to do the conversion is it straightforwand to do it myself..................
Also is the wiring straightforward too...............

oi mate u2u lee mitchel on here he form london adn is the best at fiting these so he give u good advice.

the wiring is the hardest part of the 1.0 12v conversion,i know cos mine use to be a 1.0 12v as for parts(its cheaper and easier not to use a fitting kit) the best bet is to use courtenay shafts you don't need to change hubs or whell bearings,and you can use your original corsa cv's,drivers side engine mount you can get from cross-vaux or see lee mitchell,the sfi box won't fit so you can use the power cap form pvd or the better option is the ecotek pip from vaux and get top gear in burnley to fabricate a plate to mount it(no need to cut bulk head with the ecotek pipe)the rad has to have 3 inlet/outlet pipes best getting one of a 16v model corsa,the fuel pump and header tank are ok,u'll need to tap wires from the ignition relay from the astra loom to the fuel pump relay on the corsa loom which is found behind the glove box(this is to get the fuel pump working),other than that,the wiring is near enough the same as any other corsa

if you have any probs just u2u me

wiring: 2.0 16v loom colours -----corsa 1.0 12v loom colours
thick black/red =starter= thick black/red
blue/green = oil pressure = blue/green
blue/white = alternator = blue/white
black 12v = ecu live = black 12v
thick red/blue = fuel pump = thick red/blue
red/blue = fuel pump relay = red/blue
blue = coolant temp gauge = blue
green = rev counter = green
located in the driver side foot well
brown/blue = ecu light on dash = brown/blue
brown/white = diagnostics = brown/white

if your car has eps(power steering:
then in the old wire that use to sit in the 1.0 ecu there is a group of wires in a white plug(about 9 i think)there all single colours no tracer's,there should be a green wire u need to cut this wire and tap it into the green rev counter wire this should get your eps workin

Or you can do what I've did

Buy a crashed astra MK3 2.0 16V

and build the whole wiring and motor with prefericles, dash and brakes.

I think this is the easiest and cheapest but the longest way

PVD do a kit for £500,
1. Take engine and loom out
2. Cut Bulkhead to allow 2.0 engine to go in.
3. Put 2.0 loom through the hole where the old loom.
4. Adapt ECU mount inside car to fit 2.0 ECU
5. Put engine in.
6. Connect ECU.
7.Connect the half dozen cables i can remember what they are

people will tell u its easy, makes them sound as though they are brilliant, but the fact is you'll always stumble across a problem or two whilst doing your own conversion DIY style. what people dont tell you is things like nicking bits of wires to modify the 2litre loom and remounting other components and where to fit them in the engine bay, all they seem to tell you is 'ah yeah it'll just slot in, piece of piss' blah blah blah, all that crap usually.

if u order a pvd fitting kit you'll be waiting weeks, so if you have a friend or family member who can weld, make some mock engine mounts up and get them to weld them up for ya, best off getting anything else that you may need like suitable driveshafts, from somewhere that already has them in stock, rather than waiting 3 or 4 weeks for something thats way overpriced anyway

I'd say they will last about 3 days

Id love to have the knowledge and equipment to do an engine conversion myself!! but thankfully there is someone round the corner from me called R.T complete and he will do the lot for £350 which is good and i know he goan do a good job,

I went down the route of getting a conversion kit from PVD and im on my 3rd week of waiting and i phoned up this week to see if it had arrived but NO! they sid possibly next week , im also thinking about if the kit was worth the 450 i payed for it? and the powersteering mount thing which was another 90 quid!


but oh well give it a year and it ill turn up and then i can finaly get it fitted

They are the same as far as I know for all corsa's, its just the inner cv's that are different.

Vauxhall never made a 2ltr corsa

believe me the shafts, cv's and hubs need to be changed if ya want them to last

1) Is more than £500
2) Dont ned to cut bulkhead
3) Obviously
4) Rip out all material and brackets to fit 2.0 ECU

depends on what u are using to fit the 2.0 as far as induction goes if u use a power cap u definatly need to cut the bulkhead but regal autosport have developed a new plastic replacement instead of the power cap

probably a vauxhall ecotec pipe and plate like everyone else.
