sand the top half using 240-400 grit sand paper until the bobble effect has been totally smoothed out, then using 800-1200 grit wet and dry resand till the whole area is super smooth!

(do all the sanding with wet wet and dry paper)

then its just a case of spraying on ur plastic primer and then ur colour coat!

no no no no no.

dont spend hours sanding and ruin the bumper. just rub it a tad, then use high build primer. scuff up the painted bit and respray the whole bumper, not just the half.

You using a compressor or spray cans?

I would also recommend smoothing the line/join on the bumper, but I dunno how.

High build prime the top half, rub down so its smooth, then give it another light coat of high build. Then remove the masking tape, scotch the bottom painted half and spray the whole bumper, if you dont want to do the whole bumper just spray the top half

lmao how much primer do u want to put on the bumper!!!

the less paint on a plastic surface the less likely it will crack shud anything cause it to bend, the sanding method does take ages but u wont find a proper bodyshop just whacking on as much filler primer as they can then spraying over it!

whatever mate. you wount see body shops spending 6 hours sanding it down. high build primer will not crack if applied properly. you dont need to apply loads eaither. body shops use ultra, wich will take the dimples out in about 2 coats. and can even be applied straight to plastic.

you'll need at least a 1.5hp rating compressor. pref a 2hp. you can get a semi desent ont for around the £250 mark. a gravity fed gun is the best tho, which you wount get with the compressor. only cost ya about £20 anyway

Did this...

with this...

Suction fed gun, 0.5 hp compressor with small tank as you can see. Don't need to go all out gettin big stuff if you're not gonna be using it regularly. Granted, you have to stop and let the compressor build up again, but it gives the paint time to settle anyway... Have just upgraded my kit, but thats only because I'm doin quite a bit of sprayin.

That compressor is about £100 from Machine Mart IIRC, got the gun and hose as part of a Clarke set, also from MM.

Thanks mate. Like I said, most annoying thing is having to stop and wait for the pressure to build up every so often... got my new baby now tho, all 2hp and 40 litres of it
