I'm in the middle of changing the rear brake pads on my Corsa C 1.8 Sri and it've put the new pads on but cant get the caliper back over the new brake pads as they are so much thicker.
I think I need to take the top off of the brake fluid to allow the piston to be pushed back, is that right ? But I cant find where the brake fluid is on my car, and it doesn't tell you in the user handbok.
Please help - it's getting very dark and i've still not even done one side.

yeah cap off, will let you seperate the pads... and u'll find it in the engine bay attached to the master cylinder... but dont spill loads, and put a cloth over the hole, it takes paint off

Cheers mate, but where is it on a 1.8 I can't find it any where. It's usually at the back of the engine, but I cant see it ?

I've found it now cheers but the piston still wont go in. The hand brake is off, but it wont budge. Ss its the rear do i have to do anything with the cable going into the back of the caliper.

i think you will find you have to wind it back in! has it got two pegs on it or two cut outs?

On the back of the caliper is an arm. One side of the arm is a spring, the other end a cable.

thats great and on the piston are there two pegs or two cut outs?

Oh sorry, I see.
There are four cut outs on the piston, its like a star. I guess you need a key and then turn it yeah ?

yup turn it at the same time as pushing it back in. Should be able to do it with a pair of long nose pliers or similar

Worked a treat, however it's so late i've had to put the old pads back on. What a waste of 2 1/2 hours.
Now know what i'm doing it shouldn't take very long to do it tomorrow.

Use a clamp mate, thats what i do it works a treat

I'm still having a major headache trying to change the rear pads on my corsa.
I still cant get the piston to go back in enough to put the new pads on. I've realised that it needs to be turned & pushed, but i've turned, turned & turned the piston but it just doesn't go in. I've been trying for hours and its not budged.
The handbrakes off and the cap is off of the brake fluid but the piston will NOT budge.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG ?????????? Please help.
