they'll need to take the top coat down on all the car, give it a respray/ blow over and then put the metal flake on, they wount be able to just spray the metal flake on the other half of the car thats not being redone

It takes a lot more work to get a flake in the paint, and a lot more laquer to get it smooth. I really don't think it's only £40 extra for it to be done... Though....

agree,
When you spray this stuff on its comes out like sand paper... not smooth like laquer,
You need to block the whole car down, re laquer, and then repeat about 3-4 times to get a mint finish

It is more work to do a metal flake finish...
The reason for this is that to get the best results you need 2 applications of lacquer.
That doesnt mean 2 coats but 2 times lacquered.
What happens is the car is painted in this case pink with the base coat, then the car would have 2/3 coats of lacquer with the flake/crystal added... depending on how heavy you wanted the effect to be.
The car would then get baked off, removed from the booth... if you ran your finger over the car is would be pretty rough/course because of the flakes. So what we do is remove the car from the booth and flatten all the new finish, remask, cleaned up and ready for the booth again. The car would then get at least 3 coats of lacquer again...
These coats build up above the rough finish. When these new coats are baked off, the new finish can be flattened down as normal to remove ornage peel, but this time you will not feel the flakes through the final coat as they will be trapped under the lacquer and when the second application of lacquer is all flattened down and polished, it will be much glossier than it would with 1 application.

my thoughts are that the pink colour looks great, if i was going to add a metal flake it would be deffo be pink, it wouldnt make the car look tacky, but pretty smart when car lights hit it at night and when the sun is out to play during the day.

4 or 5 coats of laquer(SP) would be expensive enough though.....
