I have a K&N breather coming off my rocker cover on my XE, its routed down to near the drivers side front wheel at the moment.

Does anyone else get quite alot of oil come out of there's when giving it some hammer?? PLUS mine has the mayo looking stuff in it, not alot though. This could be head gasket? Or just due to short journeys?

PLUS i'm not loosing any water, nor is there any oil in it.......

All help appreciated!

The headgasket could be perfectly fine - with the damper colder days we're having at the moment, moisture in the atmosphere will be mixing with the oil and vapour coming out of your breather.

Sort yourself out with a DIY catch tank - Kindness has a pic of his in his garage somewhere.
Pipe coming from the crankcase is fitted with a T-piece at the far end. The right-angled part of the T goes into a 500ml drinks bottle (Dr Pepper ones are best unless you can find a Virgin Cola "Pammy" bottle).
The remaining end of the T has another bit of pipework going to a crankcase breather.

Easy as

Alternatively, get yourself an oil catch tank - about £30 on ebay.

You can also get a plate for the underside of the cam cover from ebay - normally £11 plus whatever the bloke charges postage.

There was a guide in Total Vauxhall a good few months ago about how to fit it.

It stops the oil from going somewhere when you're doing something. hope that's not too technical for you

take the baffle plate out from under the rocker cover and drill some holes in the gulley. the oil will then drain back down into the engine.

do a search for 'breather mod' on here or migweb.

I just wish it wud blow up! Going to keep topping up with oil until after christmas, which is when i'll get another engine and have it re-built. It hardly burns any when i'm just driving normal, which is gud!
