Does anyone else have tapping / Pinking noise between 2000-3000RPM under load?
Ive got 14SRi 8v With Px induction kit. I have tried everything to stop it but only super unleaded seems to have any effect!

thats cause your timing is out
you have a ron plug on your car, on one side it says 95 & on the other it says 98
your meant to plug in the 95 side if running unleaded & the 98 side if running super unleaded
it simply retards/advances the timing on the car depending on the fuel ur running
Ecotecs have a knock sensor which does this job automatically

Tried that. putting it on 98 with super unleaded makes it worse! i've also tried changing plugs, HT Leads, fuel addatives, timing belt, fuel filter and air filter.

same happened to me mate. its cause the engine isnt combusting all the petrol as you floor the accelerator. possible your oxygen sensor might be on the way out whixh is why it isnt combusting the petrol quick enough. that was what was wrong with mine anyway its annoying though i bet you have a loss of power aswell

im having this problem with my 1.6 sport. sounds like a right shed, im getting fault codes for my knock sensor so i need to get that sorted asap.

On the engines right hand side on top of the suspension turret. If your car doesnt have a C12SE/14SE you wont have one. its done automatically.
