My petrol gauge on my Corsa B is extremely inaccurate, and will move several bars when it feels like it. Im pretty sure its a bad earth, but does anyone have any idea if and how this can be fixed?
Its been annoying me for a while, so im desperate to fix it...

If you are on a hill, facing downwards, the needle will move up quite a bit. The opposite if you are facing up a hill.
Could this explain it?

my corsa also has this problem, when the petrol gets down to about half way, now and again it will drop down to the red and the light comes on, this is nothing to do with being on a hill, then after few minutes it will go back up to half again, its WIERD!!

Does all Corsas have the petrol light ? My needle moves up and down, under heavy braking, etc. Never seen my light come on before, thats why I am wondering if I have one. Car is a 1.4 LS.

It's because the petrol moves around in the tank?
Some cars have something to stop such easy fluctuation. Some don't.

sometimes they do wear out (the sender, that is) as did mine on my nova... if i went around a roundabout, i knew how much petrol i had... otherwise... it shouwed that i had none...
they're not too hard to replace... just a little dangerous... that's all!

I think there must be a reserve tank mine goes up when the light comes on. Only once next time the light comes on i fill it up.
