Does the engine actually turn over but not start. Or does it just make noises like it wants to start?
Have you checked and tightened all the battery connections and the leads to the spark plugs?
I assume if the car has been running fine that the spark plugs are gapped correctly?
Check for excess damp around the ignition system. Pull the distributor cap off and dry it out.
It has rained quite abit today

it could just be damp mate I had the same prob wit my corsa a while back. Everything looked dry but the car was turning over but just woudlnt fire I just had to turn it over and over and eventually it started. had to keep foot on accelerator for a while to keep it running and eventually it dried out. i only knew it was water cause the radiator must have been damp on the outside too so when the thermostat opened got loads of steam! LOL! it happened just after washin my car the only conclusion me and my mate could come to was that somehow I'd managed to get a load of water up the grill and into the engine and soaked somethin! LOL
