started my car up last night, and whenever i went over 2k revs a tapping noise would start happening, this also happened if i took my foot off the accelerator. The engine also seemed to heat up alot quicker than normal,
my car is a 1.4 8v sri, any ideas of what the problem could be (the car was quite low on oil when i checked so could it be something to do with tappets)

fill up some oil and see if problem carries on.

yeah ive filledup the oil and its still carrying on.

the noise seems to be coming from the top of the engine or around that area, its not the more quiet ticking noise some people have when they start their car, this is alot louder

umm i had same on 1400 16v was bottom end basically fucked had to get new lump
the shell bearings start to grind crank and thats tapping, good luck hope it ent

if u say its cumming from the top of the engine it cud be the cam followers.. also know as hydralic lifters

Sounds like the cam followers. I replaced mine and theres
no tapping, sounds sweet now
|
