just put an xe in my corsa it has been sat for 3 months in my garage. the problem is there is a very loud tapping noise when it running. it never used to do this in the astra it came out of. any ideas of what might be wrong?

probably just tappets. takes about 30 mins for them to stop if the engines been sat for a while.

and put sum good thick oil in it quieten it down abit

No cos it'll take longer for the oil to get through the lifter stick to 10w40
just drive the car around for a bit to raise the oil pressure then it should be fine. Mine was well tappy when it sat for a week untouched jst needs to get the oil through the lifters as its usually too thick when cold
