sand it down finely with ? wet and dry
prime it a few layers sanding finely after each layer
spray it building up in layers, sanding finely imperfections

then not to laquer? iv been told my car (X reg black 1.0) is not laquered and just highly polished is this right?

how long will it need to be polished for?

If you're spraying cellulose then you shouldn't lacuer over it as this causes a sort of crazy paving effect in the finish... Just spray on the primer, then a few coats of the colour coat, let it dry thoroughly. Then using some super fine wet and dry, go over it to flat out any rough patches/runs.

Once you done this, rinse the spoiler off, dry it, then using some metal polish, go over it to get it glossy. Apply the polish with a cloth, let it dry to a haze, then buff off with another. You'll see some paint coming off on your cloth, don't worry. You'll get a superb finish in the end. Just takes time... just to prove my point, I did this by the method above:

Good luck anyhow.

G3 etc costs what? £20-30?

Metal Polish, enough to do two bumpers easily, £1.99. Thats the benefit.

Varies, depending on what you get... Can be anything from £15 to £100s for guns, a decent compressor will cost around the £120 quid mark. Got an ex demo one from machine mart, only cost me £80, so I was chuffed. Was hardly used.
