if my dad insured a car but had it insured as any driver, would i still be able to borrow the car and be insured i have my own insurance policy now, but just wanted to know if it was legal.

yep, you must make sure the policy covers your age of driver.
Different "Any Driver" policies are issued..
(e.g. over 25).
Best to give his docs a read, just in case!
