They're bitmaps.

Generally stuff made in Adobe Illustrator and the like

I think it’s something to-do with the way the file is saved its stores it as coordinates so you can resize the image without you losing the quality of the pic, just remembering what I got told in school lol

Yeah. JPEG, GIF, BMP etc are raster files. Vector files are like the ones created in Illustrator where the picture is made up of shapes and not pixels, meaning you can resize without loss of quality.

Vectors are just lines. Thats what a vectorr file is. The image is described by the equations for lines eg how long, how thinck, where it begins and ends. As opposed to something like bitmap were every pixel is mapped bit by bit.
