Is 1200 grade to coarse ?

Also , will flatting take out any slight runs ?

I think 1200 is a bit too coarse. IVe been using 1200 inbetween primer layers, and it takes off a considerable amount.

Go for 2000 to be safe

i bought a pack from halford in at breahead mate, had 4 x 500, 4 x 1000, 2 x 1500 and 2 x 2000 in it - i would imaging B&Q would have it too, otherwise id maybe try a local DIY - like homebase or summit

hmmm yeh maybe, id just take a wander over and see what the highest grade i can get is and see if im willing to settle for it.

i recently done the engine cover (in gloss black) and the highest grade i used was 1500... even my mate was surprised when he seen how smooth a finish i got with it

ive used 1500 and its just right for final flatting before buffing. 1200 is actually far to course for the final top sand as others have said!
