you'll need about 4-5 coats of lacquer to get a decent finish, leave it for about 15 mins between each and you wont need to sand in between.
make sure the lacquer is warmish (put it in airing cupbaord) as it can sometimes go cloudy if its cold.
remember thin coats too, last thing uwanna have to do it sand back to paint n start again!

i find that 2-3 thick coats is good, i found that if spraying coats that are too thin, the laquer drys and gives it a textured feel to it

give it a nice light dust coat, and then let that tack off and then blow on a wots called a wet coat(nice and thick) let it dry totally overnight is best then wet sand it lightly wiv 2000 grit and compound and polish it up

best bet would be 2 not too heavy coats, but no too light and dry,
then a heavy coat but not to heavy just enough to get a good even shiny coat

Make sure you're working in a dry environment, if you're lacquering and theres moisture in the air, it'll settle on the cold surface, condense, and you'll get blooming - or cloudyness...
