my mate wants to know if....
his car is insured in his mum's name
and he has an accident - his fault
gets the car repaired through the insurance
sells the car...
when he comes to insure his next car, does he need to declare the claim as he was not the policy holder?
has he got to stay with the same insurance company for the rest of the year or can he just cancel and get insurance with anouther company?
the insurance company is CIS if that helps!
cheers

he must say he had a crash and it was his fault, and maybe how much it cost.
otherwise everyone would be named drivers and no one would accept blame for anything

Yeah, the question is have you had any claims, not have you claimed against your own policies.

just out of curiosity, how does a 3rd party claim affect a young drivers insurance?

Still a claim.
In my experience single small accidents don't do much. Neither do 3 points.
I had a mate spent a grand fixing his car out of his own pocket and when he renewed he asked if it would have gone up if he had a claim on record they said yeah by £30.
