My alternator seems to be making a quite loud "hissing" noise when the car is running, it doesn't stop ofter a while either, just stays hissing all throughout any length of jurney
what could this be, is it shagged?

ur battery/install is too powerfull for the alternator

So to cure this what would need to be done? Would a diesel alternator help or are these the same as petrol engined vauxhalls?

could be bearings in laternator dude. may pack up altogether soon if they collapse. i'd change it if i were u chap

cant really see anything, just making that wired noise.. its really quite loud really annoying... i also get the squeal sometimes when the car first starts, anything to do with it, and the belts not slack either...
