When i get clutch to bite and the wheels just are about to begin to turn, something at the front end of the car klunks!
At slow speeds, in first gear after rolling off traffic lights, when i apply the brakes, something klunks again as the weight of the car shifts forward.........also does it when driving........ When i stop, move off again after braking it does the same..........something klunks!
My CV boots are leaking grease on the outers, could this be my problem you think?

CV's clunk when you go from lock to lock turning normally. (if they are broke)
It could be your wheel bearings or part of the exhasut system rattling about.
Though I would fit new CV boots if they are leaking...

Not wheel bearings.
Coul be cv's, lower ball joint or possibly track rod end!

i have a similar prob by the sounds of it in my astra mk3, may sound stupid but double check your battery is secure also it might be worth checking your steering arms are secure as basic things.
also get someone to pull the car forward slowly with the bonnet open and try to see if anything is moving or anything like that might be easier for you to narrow down the problem
