Yes. You can run the engine on R1 Carbs or TB's - it's been done before, but don't ask me how.
I guess you need a suitable inlet manifold to fit the TB's and then some management....

it is cheaper my m8 has some on his zetec escort and they gave him the same power as what sbd quoted on there kits but cost him about 300 quid less ... but its abit more work to fit them .. ie custom inlet manifold and wireing loom

they are very short so the power is alot more peaky and drivability suffers lower down the revs.... they do work tho and give good results. you will need to make a new inlet for them
