i well happy with my 1.4 too, its fine on motorways 60-90 happens pretty quickly,
i can come up the slip road from about 30 and be at about 90 by the time i get to the morotway.
but then again i had a 1.0 corsa b4 and that was really sloooooow in comparison.
just out of interest, what would win out of the citreon AX GT 92 K and a corsa sri 1.4 16v?

Like someone said if u want a fast car dont buy a 1.4 16v. At the end of the day its not fast. Its fast for what it is and for what most people on here can afford to insure, i.e. me! If i could insure something faster believe me i would but at the end of the day its reasonably nippy and i'm happy with it. What more do u expect from a group 6/7 car for fcuks sake????

Its hard to find a fast car that isn't silly money and even harder to find one that isn't silly insurance. I had the AX GT at 18 years old, they're 85Bhp as standard and weigh nothing, they are the fastest 1.4 on the road without a turbo. I had the AX tunned to 100Bhp, it was pretty nippy. Now I have "THE" fastest 1.4 on the road at 20 years old, Punto GT(3) Turbo, 146Bhp as standard tunned to little over 150Bhp. Next I'm going for a Corsa GSI with a C20LET (2.0l DOHC 16v turbo) engine.
A car thats over looked often is the Uno Turbo MK2, its 118Bhp, its pretty damn quick but its hard to find a good one, most are rust infested. Uno T's are group 11 insurance!! and with a touch of tunning are flying machines.
1.4 uno turbo?
my mate has one it weighs nothing v.fast havent had the chance to race him yet though he will rape me lol

In my view, a 1.4 will keep up with a 1.4, a 1.6 with a 1.6, its all down to driver (and extra valves in some cases). Ive know saxo 1.4's keep up with corsa 1.4 16v's off the lights and around town, its all down to confidence and driver skill really IMO. (if that makes sense).

Azdean-
The 5 turbo is 120Bhp and will hit 60 in about 7.7 seconds on a really good run. It will probably run the 1/4 mile in 16 seconds. The Punto Turbo GT3 (not GT1 or 2) is 146Bhp, will hit 60 in about the same time as the 5 but will run 1/4 mile alot faster and has a much faster top speed. The punto also has huggins more torque than the 5.
Matt-
If you can find an AX GT thats running well (most have been thrashed or have too many miles) it will beat a 1.4 Corsa to 80/90Mph, then the Corsa will catch up. Don't get mixed up with the AX GT and AX GTi, the newer GTi version is slower.

Here's a couple of oldish fast little hatches, The Visa Gti ( fast as an ax gt if not faster) and the Starlet Glanza Turbo. The Starlet does 0-60 in under 7.
Talbot Samba Rallye 100 bhp version was fuckin quick too, weighed 695 kg.

Punto:
GT1 - 130bhp
GT2 - 132bhp
GT3 - 136bhp
AX GT - 85bhp
Ax GTI - 100bhp
Get ur facts right.
PS, a AX GTI will KILL a 1.4 16v sport.
