After a couple of months of searching on eBay and the Internet in general for a (cheap) multi region DVD player, I have decided to spend £19.99 on a Compacks DVD6972 player from Amazon:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000EG60YU

Hopefully I will be able to make a few quid on my current DVD player which I will sell on eBay shortly and recover some of the cost of buying this new one.

Will see what this new one is like when I receive it next week...

I got a cheap Goodmans DVD player. It plays DivX, is multi-region, never skips. Best investment ever!

I bought a Philips DVP3005 the other week from Tescos - £40 and will play ANYTHING - I reckon if I squeezed an old vinyl album in there it's play it!

No it doesn't make any noise at all.

Has usual DVD player features i.e. zoom, plays DVD/CD/CDRW/MP3 etc. etc.
