DLP's use a fancy way of acheiving the HD resolutions and aren't as good as lcd's.
Thats why they are so cheap.

no its correct, plasmas cant be re-gassed, nor do they leak any gases. The only thing that happens is that over time the screen will dull down and image retention might occur (burn in - though they've solved this to a bloody good standard) - have a look on http://www.plasmatvbuyingguide.com.....useful site for plasma and LCD reviews, info etc
and yes, pioneer plasmas are the muts nuts even if they are expensive, though if money is no object there are better screens out there - saying that though, rather have a 15k projector if it was that case

And thats from a year ago.
Things have changed since then.
Bluray films are 1080p.

cant be arsed to read all that but im guessing it says no body will broadcast at 1080.. im sure in a years time you'll be able to get blue-ray and hd-dvd discs that support it though?

Finding a tv to display it properly is another matter.

it isnt the storage that is the problem, its the cameras that is - did research for a uni project, and unless you have around 200k your not going to get one, and even then apparently they arnt "that" good....so it'll be a while before propper 1080p is around.
And like you say, getting a screen to display 1080p is also another problem!
edit - lack of sleep, 1080p instead of 1080i

1080i isn't a problem at all.
Its 1080p that is.
And the launch bluray titles are 1080p.
Not maybe or anything, they are 1080p.
Screens display 1080 interelaced atm.

Remember there are three types of 'High Definition'. 'True High Definition' isn't widely available yet - only 'cut down' cersions are.
I'd wait for it to establish itself before I shelled out on one personally.

What 3 types?
There are infinite types.
The ones you are talking about bluray defo and I think hd-dvd are 1080p which I would class as 'True High Definition'.

Yeah it can get pretty intense at times Dont read too long or too far into what some of them babble on about cos you'll end up really confused & scared to buy anything

I read about 10 pages and alot of it made my brain hurt 
But overall their very impressed with it so i think im going to go for that one.
Found a nice price on RGB direct, and they seem pretty reputable so il go with them. 5 days delivery though
