My missus has a corsa that eats through tyres like anything. they maybe last 5000 miles at the most. she has 195/45/15 tyres and a 40mm drop so nothin too major.
we have had all the trackin checked and that came back ok. the only problem i see is that the wheels which she bought from a supposed good shop are ET35 which i thought is well out.
could this be causing all the wear?
thanks for any help in advance.

Which corners are wearing - Front/rear/nearside/offside? Is the whole face of the tyre wearing or just the insides/outsides.
Give us a bit of help.

All of the 4 tyres have been known to wear unevenly. They seem to wear from the inside mostly. Just seems strange. The front tyres are the worst though

Rears should never wear unevenly as suspension has fixed geometry at the rear (non-adjustable unless crashed/smashed off a curb).
Sounds strange, are they running correct pressure/balanced correctly - does the steering wheel wobble side-to-side ever?
Front camber will no longer be at factory setting so expect the fronts to wear more on the insides of the tyres but you should get way more than 5K out of them! What brand of tyre is she using?
Also how old is the car? Wiered tyre wear can be caused by rotten/worn suspension bushes sometimes. It can be an awful lot of reasons.
Is the garage thats checking the wheel alignment reputable and are they using the latest technology?

the rear wheels have slight negative camber - you'll notice this if you look at the back of the car from a short distance.

wrong offset wont cause dramatic tyre wear... i would hazard a guess and say its a mixture of wheel allignment and the 40mm drop doing the damage...

what tyres is she using?
we had Toyo Proxes (which I've never rated anyway) on the Zetec-S and it ate them in 7/8 months - less than 9000 miles which IMO is appaling
changed to Goodyear Eagles - they've been on a year and still have masses of grip left - far more miles
is she using a really soft compound tyre which is just wearing fast
