Numbers are ok but unless its one of the odd gems you'll get what you pay for.
If its for a dual set up i'd rather have 1 that cost twice the price.
It'll do the job though for web browsing and a bit of word.

any suggestions for a better one?, i'm not really up on screen refresh rates etc.

It all depends on what you are wanting to spend basically.
If you won't notice the improvement in quality and don't need it there is really no point spending more though.
LG, Samsung, Dell are 3 that are at the top of my head just now.

im with john on this spend as much as you can and read reviews!

Personally i own a samsung 930BF after i saw my flat mate get one (he did all the research lol) its a brilliant screen, offers vga and dvi inputs and handles games well too. A friend just got one for his G5 after i recomended it to him and his bloody impressed (though there is a problem with it and the G5 suspending the monitor). Its a bit pricey at £250, but even i am looking to get another one (currently dual screening with a 19" CRT ).......
