What is the difference between slipper-pistons and forged-pistons?

I have found some slipper-pistons at SBD. Are they worth the extra money compared to standard pistons?

Are there any good alternatives to SBD? What is the quality of the stuff supplied by SBD? Someone with good/bad experience when buying from SBD?

Cheers
