drivin home from work 2nite, i put the car in first gear at the lights when i pulled away it seemed like it was in 3rd coz of the speed and it almost stalled. then i try to put it in second and it acts as if the car is in 4th, again coz it is goin really slow. then later on i can only put it in 3rd, 4th and 5th. No matter how far to the left i put the gearstick it only goes into 3rd and 4th, then i put it in3rd were it would usually be but it is the same gear as when the gearstick was in 1st.
is the gearbox completly fucked or is there anything i can check before buying a new one?
sorry if its hard to understand, but it was just really strange
any help would be great

if you drive a corsa c, gear linkage could be shagged. common on newer corsa's. we've done loads at our place

you need a new linkage, what happens is that the crappy platic materials they use wears and can pop out (stuck in gear) its quite easy, undo the t45 bolt under the car that holds the linked on, remove the clip that hols one of the linkage bits on, undo the t30's on the top off the gearbox and pull the linkage out, will get instrutions in a second
