i was sitting at some traffic lights about 20 mile from my house,big bang and steam everywhere
pulled into a side road and found out the left pipe had burst,think its the one coming out the radiator....i got a corsa sri 8v but does anyone know if this is a common fault on them

Which exact pipe mate ive got a 8v sri, i'll check mine, hope it isnt a common fault!

as you look into your engine bay,its coming off the radiator on the left(by drivers side wing)
like a bendy pipe

not really,the higest my temp has ever been was at 100 but that was because my fans on a switch and not automatic.....
that was also due to the pipe coming off my header tank so it lost water
1 thing i love about them is i got it home with no water and it didnt even overheat
8v's are the future lol

yes think this is the pipe that usually goes wen they over heat, i no two people that stay beside me that this has happened. u dont want to be driving it with no water in the tank either, switch ur fan on at about 94,better to be save than sorry?

only option at the time,it got me home,i had the fan on all the way home

my fan is wired up to a switch aswell because valvers warm up quick ,at least wen its on a switch u can feel more piece of mind knowin that u can leave it on as long as u want

You drove it home for 20 miles without water? The water never overheated as there was nothing there to register on the guage! Engines probably a paperweight now!

i drove it home after,it still had some water in the system...just not as much as before it burst lol...i went to the nearest garage and bought some pvc tape,rapped bout 60 layers round then bought a bottle of water.got me home and thermo gauge didnt move

wouldnt fancy doing a head gasket change on your engine after driving 20 miles with minimal water
i wouldnt drive mine a matter of metres without the correct amount of water in it just not worth the risk or warping the head or worse melting something

it did have water in,just after i used the pvc tape it was slowly dripping.
should be sorted tomorrow
