Author Random noise at 3000 revs

When i rev the car to just over 3000 in any gear i hear this weird noise in the engine bay. It only does it at a certain point over the 3000 revs and goes off above it and below.

Its like metal rattling... :S

Any ideas?

Could be something loose and its not noticiable until the engine is revving causing it to rattle more.

Get some one to take a look while you rev it.

Maybe give everything a once over too to see if everything secure.

Is it a 1.2 16V? mine does it as well, sounds like a scratching noise.

Yeh his garage says it's a 16v.

check exhaust clamps. if they are loos they can resonate at specific RPM

i think that might be right. my 12v has started to do that. when i push the accelerator right down it picks up a bit and then will rattle for a rew hundred revs and the rattle will stop.

on my 1.0, it was the plastic spark plug cover rattling around... i changed it (only cost around £10) and it was fine. I think the heat warps it an that over time
