Just bought a corsa about 2 months ago - v reg with about 68,000 on the clock, engine runs fine + power + torque seems 2 b ok. just in 1st, 2nd & 3rd gear between 1000 & 3000 revs i can hear like a rattlin / sorta grindin, tickin noise as i apply the throttle. happens whther i boot it or just goin slowly. it don't do it whn its idling, or at high revs or flyin down motorway at 90+mph just wondered wht u ppl thought it could b......... as it just annoyin me

yeah diff in the gearbox does it do it when your sat still and just rev it??

Nah onli does it when am goin through 1st 2nd & 3rd onli at low revs between 1000 & 3000rpm, its weird, i aint got any loss in power or anythin, and gearbox feels pretty smooth

prob be exhaust baffles ratling about inside exhaust somewhere, or maybe the cat. nothing too serious

check your timing belt is tensioned properly...might as well change it while ur there, had a similar prob on mine and after weeks of searching it was cos it was too tight/loose (cant remember which)

could be that heat sheild wrapped around the manifold - all my corsas have had the same problem (rattling noise at low revs)

ripping it off cured them

yea its most probably the exhuast manifold sheild!

either bend the bits so it don't rattle or remove it altogether

yeah i wreckon it could be the mainfiod shield i had the same sort of prob and just tightened mine up and it doesnt do it now

my heat shield rattled too, i had it cut off.
