I read a couple of search pages, but couldn't really find an answer.
I've been told buy one mechanic that you can tune an indution kit to the engine with some fuel screw or something, to stop it drinking fuel, I'm not sure what it was, but then another one has said you have to tune it or change the ecu. Is any of this correct?, I don't want something that is going to drink petrol, or cause future problems. It'll be a pipercross induction kit for a 1.4 16v sri.

Thanks

i've got a panel filter, it's just someone said that i could get an induction kit tuned to the engine, but someone has said something different.I just want to see which is possible, if neither then I won't bother getting one.

induction kit will just give you noise, and the cold air feed things you buy (the tubing) are about as much use as a wet sock unless its a complete sealed unit like say, BMC etc...

panel filter & cold air feed to the airbox for the win, but smooth all the ridges and shit from the inside of the airbox, dont bother drilling it...

how come not to drill the airbox? and are you best off getting rid of the box that is on the wing side if you can?

I thought that it messed up the car, I don't think I want tp pay £70 for something that will mess it up!Anyone else had problems, or no problems with an induction kit?

Ive got a pipercross induction on my 1.4 8v sri, no sheilding or cold air feed and ive not had any problems with it, same power/speed as with the normal air filter, idle seems smoother however and it seems to rev a bit more freely

I had a k&n cone on it but only for a few hours when i found out it had a massive flatspot at 2500-3000 rpm, came straight back off!

i had problems with major flatspots with K&N, i got another open filter, 2 cold air feeds and it runs smoother and has no flat spots at all.

Get a Ramair Maxflow kit there universal fitting so get a 60/70mm neck type its a sealed induction kit and its £90. It gives a nice growl and the car feels better with it. and by the way ive tried everything on my car - induction kit was crap due to heat soak, drilled airbox was better but i didnt like the look of it much, the maxflow kit feels more torquey lower down looks best if you ask me

Nope. The only way you could get the best benifits is by mapping the car with a free flowing filter on it.

No point.

you dont need it remapped because the filter offers little gains, it means that tolerances in the ECU's program are able to adjust themselves to match the extra air flow.

Just buy a K&N
