OK just put my new car through it mot but it failed due to the front springs being too short and falling out of the leg.
so how much can i lower it by and still have it pass its mot?
Also point me in the direction of some cheap ones wuld be a help

60mm on standard shocks by any chance?
40mm is ok with standard shocks as they sit in there but 60mm needs lowered shocks as part of a kit

Sounds like you went a little too low, 40mm on standard shocks works with most cars not just Corsa, any lower and you will have 'issues'.
Keep the springs, get yourself some clamps and new shocks is your best bet.

whats the best place? & cheapish place for clamps n shocks
Adamf - the shosks are standard but i dunno what the springs are as the previous owner put them on

Ebay for shocks, spring clamps from any Motor Parts store pretty much.
Either that or just get the standard springs back on there for now. Pick them up from a scrappy.

If they're 60mm springs, which they sound like, you won't even need spring compressors to swap them over to a shorter strut.
Cable Ties might be an option too... they stopped mine failing on the rears.

yea sorry, Tekno is right it is the fronts

p.s and tekno if you remember the last problems i was having with my car which i thought were sensor problems were caused by a coilpack playing up and a gasket on the injectors
And thanx all for the advice think i'll just get some standard jobbies for the mot and then spend a few £££ on a decent supsension set up after christmas

It's really up to you, there's more knowledgable people on here that can help you with this but I think it's safe to assume you have 60mm springs as mentioned. As Robin said (which I didn;t think about 'til I thought about it  ), you mightn't need the spring clamps.
Might be best off getting 60mm compatible shocks for the fronts (check on Ebay).....any problems with the rears?

no surprisingly the back is fine , but the front is so low you cant get your fingers under lol, i ws thinking of changing them since i bought it anyway, i'll just have to weigh my options up tmos when i got pricing things up.
i'll go have a look at 60mm shocks now though.
