not on their own, no.
with inlet, filter, full system and a map, yes.
pros - better flow for a tuned engine
better pickup through the revs due to the flow.
cons - 4-1s lose torque, and hit the floor
raspiness sometimes

im lookin for a little bit of an increase but duno what to go for thinkin inlet is only way forward as i have a system but dnt wanna loose the cat of middle box due to noise

I'd save your pennies and go for an inlet really, you'll see better gains.

just not 100% sure bout mantzels, worries me that the management light flickers on all the time i mean how do you really know is sumthings up

iam sure dave a was saying the other week that if you fit them properly then the management light wont come on at all,

he was saying something about people not connecting the hoses properly or something, iam talking about the inlet not the manifold by the way, best of sending him a message, iam sure he wont mind

stop u2uing me about mantzels and EM lights. 
most people dont connect the egr feed pipe from the lower inlet blanking plate. if its fitted, no EM light

the only reason that the em light will come on is as said due to the egr feed. this is because when you put a manzel on you have to move the throttle body- the throttle body is originally mounted next to the egr valve and feed on the lower inlet manifold, therefore the feed originally goes straight in to the throttle body and the feed can not go in to the throttle body if you move it, thats why most people blank the feed off which causes an em light.
however if you buy a brand new mantzel (now made by veltman) you should get a plate with a pipe that allows the egr feed to be reconnected in to the new upper inlet manifold from where the throttle body used to be mounted causing no em light any more.

if you look in dean w's garage you will see a picture of his engine with the egr feed pipe fitted.
its pointless doing any other mod to the small block xe engines other than an inlet manifold to start with as this is an actual restriction put on the engine by vauxhall, so it makes sense to 'de-restrict' the engine before doing anything else.
