trying to sort out my mrs PC. The fan is always on, and the CPU uasage is at 100%. When i restart it, it never switches off, have to switch it off manually.
Anyone got any ideas what could it be? and how to go about fixing it???

well the fan is not meant to always be on????? is it??? i thought they only came on when pc is over heating.
yeah have done ctrl alt del, and the memory usage is all over the shop, cant tell what is using the most.
I have just bought some more memory, as i think it is struggling. it has got 256 shared RAM, it runs dog slow.

go to tak manager and go to processes, you will be able to know which one is using the most memory.
btw, for the fan, maybe it needs some cleaning. open you pc and hoover it

fan will always be on, but it adjusts speed according to temperature of the core. you should be able to pinpoint what is using the CPU most, rather than memory. 2 different things. could well be a virus, sasser worm used to create a cpu-killing process as one of its quirks. check its not that first. might well be format-reinstall time
