After being with PlusNet for 3 years, and signing up 3-4 other accounts with them in that time its finally time for me to wave goodbye to them. Other the last week they have dealt with one of my support calls which has driven me to request my MAC code and shift my custom elsewhere.
I use to sing their praises too but in the last week I've had a 56k like service and hardly any updates from their help desk. In the last 3 years I havent had much of a problem but when I do have one the lack of response is always the same which I cannot have.
I've been making my excuses not to move because I thought it was alot of hassle but it seems all you have to do is request a MAC code, give it to your new ISP and the migration is quite straight forward. Lets see how it goes

They've been bought out by BT anyway, so leaving was probably a good idea

Tempting but I've got a feeling they won't do much with my call now I've got my MAC code and submitted it somewhere. Last message I got from Plusnet was asking if I've got spyware/open wireless/viruses installed, bunch of northern cunts.

If you problem isn't just related to P2P speeds changing ISP will not help.
You will find people alot less helpful if you will not comply with standard diagnostics.

Yep, but my problem is that all procotols/apps are slow, FTP, WWW, SSH, DNS, P2P are all shite during hours when you'd expect them to be ok.
I found between business hours I could only get up to 5kb/s or so from a web server, latency is fine but the transfer rate is for shit.
All my boxes are anti virused up, my wireless is filtered and secured like a mofo. I even unplugged everything but my freebsd machine to see if I had a infected host on my network.
The access is fine at 4am, but at 8,9,10,13,14,15 up to 2200 hours its slow as fuck. PlusNet's response to my call was awful. I've been paying £30 this month for a broadband connection that has been like a 56k modem for the last week.

What sort of results do you get on:
http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/troubleshooting/bt_speed_tester.shtml
?
Its probly just the VP your connection uses at your exchange being overloaded.
If your lucky switching ISP may also cause the VP your connection is routed through to change.

I've been doing that for the last 5 working days, I've even pre-empted plusnet support by getting access to a completely different router/power supply/rj11 cable/filter to ensure I didnt waste another day being asked to try it!
5 days with very poor internet access is too long to me, if PlusNet did a better job at call revolution I wouldnt be making this thread. I've given them my loyalty and I got bummed in return.

Today my service on my new ISP should go live, since last week there have been emails from Plusnet saying they did identify an issue with packet drops and people on the gold queue not getting right service on the www. Took them a while!
