Car: Corsa 1.4 1997 Sport
The temp is between half way and 100^c when driving and when idle is goes to 100, fan kicks in as expected then the temp drops to below 100, and unless i set off, its back to 100
Just wondering if this is normal for this car because I thought it was too hot but I took it into garage today and the guy just said its fine, they are all like that
Sound right? Cause it overheats way too much for it to seem normal to me
Any help appriciated

thats not overheating, if the fan kicks in before the 100 mark then its working fine, if the temp then drops then the rad is doing its job. most vaux engines have a common running temp between 90 and 100 degrees.

Well thought 90 was fine but too go up to 100 many times a day i thought that was overheating, but then again I am used to only a 1l engine and not a 1.4 engine.
So its all fine then?

yep, as long as it doesnt go over the 100 mark too much then its fine.

well the fan kicks in just past 100 and goes off just under 100. So in a long traffic que the fan could easily come on a good few times

My 1litre is the same - will be best to keep an eye on it in the summer though

Sounds fine, also long as it isnt going over 100C its not overheating (i believe the red is about 110C?).
It does sound alittle warmer than mine though, on the motorway/normal driving my temp sits at about 91C, the only time mine goes over this is if im stuck in traffic (and maybe on rather hot days). That said, in the winter my car wouldnt even get to 90C even on a long motorway jounery, would sit at about 87-88C. My fan comes on at 100C and turns off at 95C.

yeah thats how my last car was, pretty much as 90 or just over, but that was a 1.0l
Now I have a 1.4 sport, which I am now guessing that this is normal, but I still dont like it, fan comes on way too many times

Change your coolant and flush out the block and radiator, would be the first thing id do see if it improves things, plus its done and you know its been done.
You may have a small air lock ???
