Body Flex and the Weight Of The Roof
My GSi suffered from this, had them welded hen it got resprayed but they soon came back.
Mine passed an MOT with them mind they were tiny cracks compared to some ive seen.

did well to get 2 years out of a weld. strengthening plates may be the answer but lots of work involved, get a good shell with no cracks IMO
